On-Page SEO

 

On-page SEO is the technical side of SEO. It consists of making sure you are targeting the right keywords, using optimized titles, heading  tags and url structures, creating and optimizing unique content that is engaging, visitor retention, and much more.

 

On-page SEO is the vehicle to get ranked in Google. A lot of companies try to sell agents on this as being the only thing their website needs to get search engine visibility. That is only true if the keywords you are competing for have low competition. For the other 99% of keywords, this will only land you on page 2 or 3 of the search results at best. A vehicle without power will go nowhere. It might look nice, but it cannot take you anywhere by itself. On-page SEO is just the foundation for a great SEO campaign.

 

Off-Page SEO

 

On-page SEO is what normally comes to mind when you think of SEO, but off-page SEO is where the real magic happens. Any website provider will sell you on the fact that their website is SEO friendly, or that they do SEO. However, they are only talking about on-page SEO, which is only half the battle. And they leave out the fact that your website needs backlinks to rank. This is what really puts us in front of the pack. Local SEO

 

Local SEO is comprised of both on-page and off-page SEO. This is what gets you ranked in the "snack pack," or the box in between the advertisers and the search results. The "snack pack" contains the top three professionals in your area for their specific service. Local SEO combines keyword and location relevancy (job title + city). To have really great local SEO, your website needs to be sending these signals to Google, but you must also have specific backlinks (citations or business listings) that are sending the same signals. Websites like Yelp, Google My Business, and Yellow Pages are all great sources for citations. They must all have the exact same business name, phone number, and address. It can be a hindrance to your website rankings if your citations are not consistent. It can also be really frustrating to try to find all of the citations and correct them. And if you want to rank higher than your competitors, you need to have their same citations and more.

 

We handle all of this. Not only do we scrape, research, and find all of a websites citations. But we also visit each URL after we find it and note the business name, address, and phone number displayed. We clean up any citations that are inconsistent.

 

Our cleanup campaigns are a multi-step process that normally take around 3 weeks to complete. We leave no stone unturned. We work to kill duplicate citations and enforce the business' standardized NAP (name, address, phone number) across all the incorrect sites on your entire citation list.

How Is Our Service Different?

 

Every real estate website provider will tell you they optimize your page to appear high in the search engines. That is great, but this alone will not get your website to the top of the search results. What they forget to mention, because they do not know how, is that your website needs links from relevant, authority websites to get you to the top of the search results. The days are gone when you could get links from any source and get rocketed to the top. Now, you must be intentional about the links you are acquiring. Authority is spread around the internet by one website linking to another. If the links you acquire are from new websites or websites that do not already have a backlink profile themselves, then they are no good. They will not hurt you, and might help you down the road, but it can be a long time before they do help you rank (if ever). Websites with a spammy backlink profile will hurt your hopes of ever ranking for your desired keywords.

 

We use proprietary methods that provide your website with relevant links from pages that already have authority because of their great backlink profile. The amount of links you will need is based on the amount and quality of links your competitors have. We also interlink your pages properly, so a link pointing  to one page will benefit other pages on your website because of links on that page. Authority does not stop at the page that is getting linked to, but it continues to spread until it reaches a page with no links. However, authority does dilute as it passes from page to page. As you get backlinks to one page, other pages will start to rank for their keywords. Large brands rely on interlinking pages to outrank your website. We beat them by sending inbound links directly to your pages that are targeting the same keywords. A webpage can also have a few high quality links and rank higher than a webpage with many low quality links. And without proper on-page optimization, your website will never rank high for your desired keywords.

 

Do I Really Need Backlinks to Rank?

 

Yes. To further prove this, let's look at a basic example.

Search term: Homes for sale in Marietta GA

 

This is not a complete competitor analysis, but it does give us an idea of what we would be up against if we wanted to rank at the top of this search. I want to focus on the PA and Links columns. Links build PA (Page Authority). We can see that Zillow is ranking in the top position and has 47 links from other websites with 59 PA. Realtor.com is in the second position with zero links and 43 PA. Why do they have PA, you say? They have great interlinking. Other pages of their website are linking to this page. This is a great example of how links from other websites have more power than links from within a website. I would assume that most of Zillow's links are low quality or no-follow links, meaning they do not pass authority.

 

Movoto and Coldwell Banker have one backlink each. Google is not impressed.. Homes.com has three listings on this page. Three?! Google is begging us to provide something more optimized for this search!

 

What this does not show you is that an agent's website is ranking at position 13 with zero backlinks and very low PA. They are there by getting backlinks to another page on their website and the authority transferring to this page, and it was very little authority at that. It is very likely that with proper backlinking, we could plant a website into the top five for this search in 60-90 days. That is at least 100 new visitors per month that are searching for homes in this area. Our goals do not stop when we reach the top 5. We continue to push until your website is ranked in the top position.

Q. How long does it take to rank in the top of Google?

A. There is no definitive answer. Every website and keyword is different. Backlinks do not have immediate effects (you can read more on that here). We see great results around 2 - 3 months for medium competition keywords.

 

Q. What if my site loses rank in Google?

A. This is completely normal in the beginning. Any on-page changes or new backlinks have the potential to make your website lose rank in Google. This is called the "Google Dance," and it is only temporary. Most websites go through this. Google wants to see how you react when your rank starts to go down. The important thing is to just stay calm and wait for your rank to come back. When your rankings return, they will be much better than they were when it started.

 

Q. Will I stay at number 1 in Google if I cancel your services?

A. It is likely you will remain at the top of the search results for a few months after canceling, but your rankings will eventually fall back to where they were when we started.
